Advancing Equity in Design: Ballinger Scholarship Recipients
Share

We are proud to celebrate the 2024 recipients of the Ballinger Scholarship for Equity, Romina Broglia and Nadia Pickering, and finalists Laura Ellis, Sophia Francisco, Jack Hubbell, Christina Lao, and Cesar Melendez.
These students exemplify the talent, dedication, and vision needed to shape the future of our built environment. Through their pursuit of architecture, they are helping move our industry forward with creativity and purpose.
This year’s scholarship recipients were invited to spend a day at Ballinger, gaining insights into real world design practice. Students toured our interdisciplinary studio, shadowed project teams, took part in portfolio reviews, and attended a presentation by subject-matter experts. The program connects students not only to financial resources but also to mentorship and professional exposure—key elements in building a more equitable pipeline of future design professionals.

About the Ballinger Scholarship for Equity
Designing spaces that shape the future requires a commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion. Now in its third year, Ballinger’s Scholarship for Equity program aims to enhance equity in our industry and increase the pipeline of diverse talent in the fields of architecture, engineering, and interior design. The program is designed to support diverse students at several steps in their education, from the first year of college through graduation.
