Ballinger participated in a groundbreaking ceremony for the 650,000 SF expansion at the University of Rochester Medical Center’s Strong Memorial Hospital on September 8. Ballinger Principal Thomas J. Parr, Jr., AIA and Senior Associate Robert P. Goss, Jr., AIA joined leaders from the University of Rochester and the University of Rochester Medical Center, representatives from federal, state, and local government, and community supporters to celebrate the start of construction on the new nine-story patient tower.
Expected to open in 2027, Ballinger provided architectural, interior design, and structural engineering services for the expansion. It will help address chronic bed shortages and Emergency Department (ED) overcrowding, and will also create dedicated, consolidated space for cardiovascular services, one of University of Rochester Medical Center’s nationally recognized specialties.
