The Tun to Hold Groundbreaking Ceremony

On Sunday, November 10, the Tun Legacy Foundation will host a groundbreaking ceremony for The Tun. The free event is open to the public and will include a Marine Corp Birthday Block Party with appearances from the Marine Drum and Bugle Corps.
Ballinger is providing architectural, interior, and engineering design services to rebuild the tavern, honoring the architecture, materials, and layout as it existed in the 1770s, when it was a popular tavern frequented by the Founding Fathers. The building will re-establish The Tun as a functioning mariner’s tavern and restaurant to become a destination for the millions of Americans connected to organizations founded within the tavern’s walls.
The Tun is scheduled to open in November 2025, coinciding with the Navy and Marine Corps 250th Homecoming Celebration in Philadelphia.
