Cutting the Ribbon on Consolidated Cancer Care in Lincoln, Nebraska

Last week, Bryan Health and Cancer Partners of Nebraska held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the April Sampson Cancer Center, officially elevating cancer care in Lincoln and across the state of Nebraska. This 140,000 SF, Ballinger-designed facility provides cancer patients with a comprehensive and consolidated resource for their care in a serene Great Plains sanctuary setting. State-of-the-art equipment to provide cutting-edge treatments as well as access to specialists and rehabilitation, mental health, and ancillary services, such as a spa and wig shop, are all available to patients.
“It was important to the client to provide a center that did not feel like a traditional hospital,” said Ballinger Principal Thomas J. Parr, Jr., AIA who attended the ribbon cutting ceremony. “Our final design maximizes the 10-acre site’s natural topography, with views of a landscape that includes meadows, woods, and a large pond. We made sure that the eastern side of the building was two stories tall so that programs in both levels can take advantage of the light and views,” he said.
