Choreographing a building for a world-class dance program at a leading research university requires hitting the mark on flexibility, sustainability and design. Ballinger and partner TMP Architecture are proud to announce that our efforts to create a sustainable home for the University of Michigan’s dance program have been rewarded with LEED Silver status.

When designing the 24,000 SF facility, our integrated team utilized a wide variety of measures to lower the building’s carbon footprint, including low flow bathroom fixtures and showers, hydronic heating systems, and LED lights. We also exercised care to not only preserve a woodlot that holds special significance to the campus ecosystem, but also to ensure that the quality of the storm water flowing from the building into the woodlot and the Huron River watershed remains uncontaminated.
